It’s A Challenge
September 6, 2006Just an off day. The mood was right, the energy was right,
the lighting was partially right, but the photos came out all
wrong. It seems the lighting wasn’t even close to right and
the shutter just couldn’t go fast enough on the lower ISO
setting. But if I bumped the Iso up, I’d end up with way
more grain for sure. And since I always get strange effects
withthe flash, I didn’t bother trying it.
So the focus is off, the grain is increased, there’s a little
blur, and Ashley wasn’t giving her best adorable face. But
it’s ok, because the photo came out adorable anyway.
Maybe because they are my nieces and their brand new dog.
The frustration with my camera is getting worse. It really
doesn’t perform in low light situations. This photo was
taken at dusk though to the eye there was plenty of light.
I have 4 ISO settings but usually can only use the lowest
with no grain in average light. So most of the time the other
3 settings are useless to me. I tried altering some of my
other settings but wasn’t able to get what I wanted.
Photography is becoming more of a challenge. It’s hard to
continue building on my skills when I’m just not happy
with my equipment. Every shot is a major chore it seems.
And with winter in the near future, the lack of good natural
lighting will surely have an effect as well. I’m feeling like
I’m in a rut. I thinknI’ll force myself to take the cam
outside today and shoot a few since it’s good, bright light
today. I need to rebuild my confidence. Yep, that’s it, that’s
what I’m going to have to do. And today I think I’ll just go
all out and shoot in full manual. Maybe I can get a better
result.
