The cuteness was overflowing on Sunday at the Plains Art Museum with this way too cute family. We giggled and laughed through the whole session and I just had a really great time. I just love my job!

Week 2 is a few days behind this week – thanks to the digestive flu running through me and my son and strep throat in my daughter. What a week this was for sure! We’re all back to healthy now and I took advantage of the awesome ice fog to photograph the hoar frost nearby.

And then the clouds broke and revealed an amazing blue sky! The view from my deck.

Baby Hudson made his arrival in the middle of a blizzard but he’s so cute and snuggly and sure warms up the room in a hurry!

This family got together for the holidays this year and asked me to photograph their family all together. With 4 young kids, 6 adults and 2 dogs – that was quite a challenge but we had a fun time and got some great shots. I pulled a handful of images to show off for the family.

Last week my friend Leah called to tell me about some really cool icicles that were ‘growing’ from the roof of a local church. I knew just the place she was talking about – I’ve driven by so many times in all my years in Fargo and have always thought how cool they were. I decided that Icicles would be the them for my first week of images.  So yesterday I took Connor out for a drive with me to find some cool icicles in town and photograph them. It was beyond freezing – the windchill was horrid – my fingers were numb within seconds of hopping out of the car. But I got some cool shots. And I got to spend some fun time hanging out with my boy. Here are some of what we found hanging around some local businesses.

And then we got home and played with the dogs – Ruby loves when we kick the snow around and she barks and jumps and has a good time. She grew some icicles [snotcicles?] of her own!

While we were driving around I noticed that so many icicles hang from houses! And while I really wanted to photograph them all, I didn’t want to go door to door to ask to photograph their houses. And I’m not the type to photograph someones home without their permission. So – let me photograph your house! If you have some really cool icicles hanging from your roof – are they really long or a big mass of them or just something cool and unique – not your average loner icicle. Welcome to 2010. It’s no Space Odyssey – but it’s pretty darn cool, right?

It was a real bummer to me that a bunch of clouds filled the sky and I didn’t get a chance to photograph the Once in a Blue Moon. But thankfully, by morning, the clouds had cleared and made way for a phenomenal site!

And then early this morning, it was a mere -29* and the ice crystals were forming on the inside of my window. I guess there is nothing like winter in North Dakota. BRRR!!

Much too cold for my liking. I’ve spent the New Year weekend cozy indoors with my faithful Zoo and have been working on some new things for 2010. I’m really looking forward to some new things to do, to offer, and to share. As per the usual beginning of the year routine, there will be changes coming to the blog and to the website and the business in general. If things aren’t quite looking right or working right, feel free to shoot me an email but most likely it’s just one of those ‘in progress’ kinds of things and if you stop back by a little while later, things will be back to normal  only better!

One more thing: for the last 2 years I have started Project 365, a photo a day for a year, but I always get derailed and find the daily task too much to keep up with once spring arrives and life gets extra busy again. So this year I’m going to do something different. I love photographing my clients but I also love photographing all kinds of other things. I need a creative outlet and to expand on my photography techniques. I’m going to do a Project 52 – a photo a week for a year. But with a twist. I want to explore the area and find unique in the ordinary. And I want your help. I want you to send me locations, landmarks, areas of town, addresses [please no personal homes] – all around the Fargo, Moorhead, and nearby surrounding areas. Do you want to see something from my perspective? Let me know what and I’ll do my best! I plan to post images and the story here on the blog every Sunday.
