Today I’m just so tired. I worked out at the gym too early in the day and found myself perched here on the couch for way too much of the day. I can’t even say that I got much done. Blah.

It’s supposed to be spring around here but I still can’t manage to be warm, even inside the house. I dress in a sweatshirt and socks and have the heat turned up higher than I want to. Today I needed a little extra something and decided to heat myself from the inside to see if that would help. I got out my monsterous tiger mug and filled it full of steamy hot green tea.

My Thomas, he’s just so funny. I had put the flowers on the table so that I could add more water to the vase. I’m not sure what he thought I had on the table but he hopped right up there and started sniffing around. He batted at some long stems and smelled around a bit. And then he sat up like a meerkat!

Sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day, or the month, or even in several months. I’m a bit behind in my photography reading. Some of these I have flipped through a little bit but most are just sitting and waiting for me to give them a little of my time. One of these days I will get to it, but likely not before the stack gets a litle bit higher.

I didn’t think that my baby Casey would get to see the snow. I thought he’d be half a year older [at least] by the time the next snowflakes fell. Boy was I wrong. Not only did some flakes falll, they ALL fell. But Casey had a blast in his first snow. He ran around in it with Ruby and he dug in it and chewed some up and rooted his little nose around in it. Ruby has always loved the snow. She runs and jumps like a bunny and makes trails all around the yard. I think she really enjoyed having Casey to play around with and to teach him a thing or two about being a Corgi in the snow. Too bad the snow is deeper than Casey’s legs [all stacked together!!] I’m glad they’re having fun because I’m not!

Let it be known that on April 25th, any form of snow is completely unacceptable. And then to have 7 inches fall - that’s just crazy talk. The grass was green the other day, the flowers were blooming, the trees budding. Now it’s all at a standstill. Yes, the water is so good for all of these things, but couldn’t it just rain instead? It’s so cold and dreary looking again. And I just wanted to grill every day, but I don’t want to stand out there in the cold weather.

Thomas loves to sleep in my basket. He’s a large kitten [only 9 months old] but figures out a contortionists way of fititng in this basket, which at the right times of day, is full of warm sunshine. It’s so hard not to want to pet him when he’s like that, but I don’t want to wake him up.

Casey is too short legged and too head heavy to get down the deck steps on his own. Today, we had all gone down and I purposely got low so that I could avoid the grill in the background and get all sky for the backdrop. He was not thrilled. He attempted to get to that first step a few times but chickened out. And thank goodness because he would have tumbled. So he let out a little howl as if to say, “Come get me and take me down!” Of course I did and he was happy again. I just love this puppy, he is so cute! [and photogenic!]

Seriously - I can’t make this stuff up. Our new puppy just makes us giggle with all the crazy ways and places that he sleeps. The back sleeping is so typically Corgi but I’m not sure about the crossed legs. I catch him doing that every now and again. It’s just so adorable. You should hear us, we just sit and look at him and awwwww, and oohhhhhhh about him. Too bad puppies are only puppies for a little while.

That would be my Miss Millie. She’s so precious. Tonight she sat on the table and was staring out the patio door at the kids playing in the yard. I know that she wanted to get out there and play herself but she’s not allowed. The sun was just going down and provided gorgeous light on her beautiful face.

Spring was definitely all around today. It was a perfect day for grilling and we spoiled ourselves extra. Big steaks right from the butcher and James and Hannah sauteed some shrimp too. It was so delicious. I think we will be full until tomorrow. And even th dogs had some bones to chew on for awhile.

For Hannah’s play performance my mom and I got a big bouquet of gorgeous flowers for her. I don’t know what this greenish flower is but it is really unique and smells good. It stood out from the bouquet so I took it’s picture.

Hannah has been hard at work for the past couple of months on the school play. The performance of “Adventures of a Comic Book Artist” started last night and was tonight and the final performace is tomorrow morning. We went last night and tonight. Hannah has a few small parts but does a wonderful job. In this scene, Hannah’s purse was stolen and she had to scream!

The kids and I had an ice cream craving. I got my usual raspberry sherbet and this is what they got. Have a guess for the flavor?

Sick of my Casey yet? He’s just too cute. Today I found him sleeping upside down between the food dishes. He makes me laugh and I feel so happy to have him as a part of our family.

Today was gorgeous! What a wonderful spring day. The wind certainly could have been a little less but there was plenty of sun and the temps neared 70*. We spent a lot of time outside which felt so good. The kids and dogs needed that. I looked up while sitting under my maple and noticed that even though we had snow last week, the new leaves are already preparing to making their arrival. You have no idea how much this made my day. I love my maple.

This is what happens to Corgi’s when they play so hard, they just fall over and sleep.

Awww, poor Casey. He was so tired after a lot of playing outside in the spring weather and he didn’t even make it to laying down. He just fell asleep on Hannah’s arm. And his feet are as big as Ruby’s are right now. And those ears!! Do they get any cuter than that?

Today we picked up our new baby boy! It was a long drive down to Sioux Falls to get him and turn around and come right back. But so worth it. We got him from the same breeder that we got Ruby though the dogs are unrelated. He’s super cute and has the best puppy breath! Ruby is feeling a bit jealous and will take some time to adjust I’m sure. The cats seem a bit unphased though he’s leaving them alone for now. I’m sure that will change in a day or two. It’s been a long day – this quick snap will have to do for now. Many more pictures to come!

Today we combined birthdays and celebrated Connor and Dillan with friends at the Holiday Inn pool. They love it here. [yes, we are still here!] Friends from he neighborhood and school came and so did cousins. We had a super time! It’s such a fun thing to do in the middle of the winter. This is Connor on the right with 2 friends. I didn’t get a good picture of all the kids together, they were just too excited to be swimming – I couldn’t get them all to gather up and hold still! Fun anyway!

Dillan was ready to get rid of his long hairs today. He doesn’t like having his hair cut so he decided it was time for his ’summer haircut’ so that he wouldn’t have to get it cut so often. My baby boy all of a sudden doesn’t seem like such a baby anymore. I think he’s looking a bit more grown up!

For a long time, Connor has wanted roller blades. The older kids in the neighborhood all have them. I was nervous to let him have them fearing many trips to the emergency room. But he wanted to spend his birthday money [and Dillan did too] so I gave in and let him get them. He put them on and away he went – like an old pro. The boy is amazing like that!

Oh my Thomas. He just makes me giggle. He’s still a kitten but he’s bigger than most adult cats. He’s quite lazy, he eats laying down. And sometimes, on days like today, he just lays the his head downa nd closes his eyes and naps right then and there. Then he’ll wake up and start eating again. Today he must have been extra tired, he didn’t even get his paw out of the dish!

It’s no secret, we love our Webkinz around here. We’re spoiled by the buy one, get one free sale that has been going on for awhile now. There are currently 12 Webkinz residing in our home. Connor took great care tonight to make sure his 4 were tucked in just right before going to sleep. I’m sure that in the morning they will still be in this same spot, looking over my boy while he sleeps.

I spoke too soon about the geese. Really, they hadn’t been wrong before today. I can’t believe the amount of snow we’re getting. It depresses me, really. I know it will melt again in a day or two but I was really looking forward to not having to look at snow again for many months. In protest, I’m not shoveling my driveway or sidewalk today. I’ll get to that tomorrow sometime if it doesn’t melt off. This certainly has been one long winter. I wish it would quit hanging around already. At least it makes for some pretty pictures.

Ruby is my girl. She makes my heart smile every day. She follows me around, she sleeps under the covers next to me, she doesn’t miss a chance to whimper at me when I’m petting a cat. She’s that jealous! But I don’t mind. It’s nice to know that she loves me as much as I love her. She’s turning out to be a wonderful dog. Just one more week before we add another Corgi to our family!!

There is one thing we know for sure up here in North Dakota – the geese don’t lie. When they start checking out in the fall, the fall is darn near done and expect plummeting temperatures and/or snow soon. And when the geese flock back again, spring is finally here to stay. Today, we stood out on the deck and watched for a solid 5 minutes as the flocks just came in waves. There was no break, they just kept coming and coming. There was plenty of honking and we were hoping we didn’t need a goose poo umbrella! It was really neat to see so many birds flying over the house at once. It took me a little while but then I realized there were some pelicans flocked in the jetstream there too!
The image is a little hard to see at this size, they were up a bit high and I had my lens zoomed all the way out to show just how many there were.

My baby boy turned 5 today! I can’t believe how fast time goes by. It wasn’t all that long ago that he was just a tiny bundle in my arms, was it? What a fun 5 years it has been. This boy of mine is so full of personality and spunk. I just love him to pieces! We had a pretty low-key day. We enjoyed the excellent weather and got outside some, had a yummy dinner and race car cake with Grandma and Aunt Leslie and cousins Caitlin, Ashley and Justin. The party is next weekend. FUN!!

For the middle of February, I’ve had router issues. I’d get disconnected several times a day and have to manually reset the router. This sometimes meant going up and down the stairs and unplugging and re plugging in anywhere from 10-30 times a day. Seriously. Then a week and a half ago I finally called Linksys [I had thought maybe it was an internet issue that would clear itself up] and updated some things. After that, It would reset itself but it would still kick me off 50+ times a day. Ok, maybe exaggerating but that’s what it felt like. I’d be mid instant message and lose what I was saying or what was being said to me. Finally on Sunday they determined that my router was defective. Today my new one arrived and everything is working perfectly! Thank goodness!!

Outside of Hannah’s school today were 1200 small flags. These were in a snowbank as were others. Some were placed in plantars. They were placed to represent the number of people who die from cigarettes every day. Quite impressive and a neat way to display the statistic.
